(DMK) sm The old turbine mill, with the horizontal water wheel. The axle passed vertically through the nether millstone and there being no gearing, the upper stone made only one revolution for each turn of the water-wheel. Three of these mills were at work in Assynt about 1860-5, but they were superseded soon after by a modern mill.
